Finally, it’s my weekend off! Memorial Day and the kids school vacation have certainly gotten me confused. Seems to me that when a work schedule includes every other weekend off, It’s harder to keep track of the day!
The good news is Splotchy hasn’t been limping as much. It appears to be worse especially after a long car drive. I never saw a dog that doesn’t like to stick her head out of the window. She just sits and looks all around. We won’t be taking too many car trips now that the hot weather is here. It just gets to hot for her.
Yesterday, I blasted us with the a/c and she was fine. I’m pretty cheap so I never use the air. Only the best for Splotch!
But we did come home a different way and got to enjoy this view. It’s just a few blocks from home.
We still haven’t gotten Splotchy and Squirrel friendly yet.
As you can see, Squirrel likes to relax on the bed, but
but she is always on alert to any noise that could be her enemy.
Poor Splotchy just wants to sniff and play!
We hope to see you soon,
and have a great weekend!
Does she look like a killer to you? Do you know there are people who want her dead?
I’m just starting to investigate some info I’ve found on other blogs.
According to them, the group PETA thinks all pits should be put down. The group thinks they should not be up for adoption at our local shelter. Why? Because there is a chance of undesirables adopting them to fight.
They wouldn’t care about families who just want to give pets a second chance. Apparently this is a breed they want to banish.
German Shephards and Rotts are also on the list. I’m trying to learn more about this group and their beliefs. I read that 89% of the pets at their shelter are euthanized.
I thought they were more into fur and leather product bans, but I guess I was wrong.
On a much lighter note:
A friend I work with brought me 4 books, she wanted to pass them on to another avid reader.
I’m on my 3rd one in the batch. They really are great reads. Perfect for summer reading. So far they are those books you wish would never end! The first one I read was “Darkness, Take My Hand” It was great and I thought the next one would be a let down. Boy was I wrong! Shutter Island was even better. I never saw the movie, so I had no idea what to expect. The ending was the wildest twist I have ever come across!
I just wanted to recommend these to anyone who enjoys reading a good mystery as much as I do!
Guess I’ll read a bit more of “Mystic River” before getting ready for work!
Hope to see ya soon!
What an energetic baby! Now that my grandson is about to be able to ditch the crutches, think we just might have some calm?
Of course not.
Now we have to watch Splotchy start to limp!
It’s only occasionally, but still something else to worry about. I’ve read that pits have a lot of joint problems. Her back legs seem to be the problem. She doesn’t seem to have any pain and still runs and jumps like always.
Yeah, she’s got her own pillows and blanket.
Not many toys, she never has been interested in them.
Just likes to stretch out and relax!
We will be sure to monitor her closely. There are so many products for joint health,
we won’t let her hurt. We can find out and see what works.
I’ll let you know what we find out.
Memorial Day weekend is over and the kids are going back to school!
Of course, they are counting down the days to summer vacation. I am too, I really love to have them around. Even when they begin to get on my very last nerve! Since they are now at the ages of 11 and 13, I know they won’t want to always spend time with grandma. The difference between a grandson and a granddaughter is so interesting though. My grandson is a perfect mini me of my son. Same as his dad, this is the age when friends become a major part of life. Running and playing are all that seems important. We think we have about a week of the crutches left, or he will go out of his mind!
A granddaughter seems to be so different. She is more of a loner. Perfectly happy to be home with grandma and a book. She is changing so much and becoming a lovely young woman. We are becoming best friends.
I’m selfish and I worry about me! What do I do as they grow up and grandma takes a different role in their lives. I really believe my depression started when my son was about their age. I had lost my identity. My life had been so full of him, his friends, his sports, and all his interests.
I guess it happens to a lot of women. We get so caught up in others we let ourselves suffer. I do hope I do better this time around. I have my blogging, my craft sales and now an Etsy shop, that I really need to get busy with.
Or maybe I’ll revert to my original plan of becoming the towns crazy cat lady. Come on, we know every town needs one!
I’ll stay busy!
I’ll be fine!
See ya Later!
Today we want to take time to thank all the men and women who are serving our country.
We also want to honor our fallen heros.
What a lovely day to drive the kids to school!
I just hope I remember days like this during the summer heat waves. Maybe I won’t complain as much.
It always make for a fun walk with Splotchy too! She really is not a big fan . Of course, that rotten squirrel running across our path didn’t help matters much! I never will understand how she thinks she can catch a squirrel, bunny or bird with me hanging on to the leash for dear life! I believe she would sit at the base of a tree for hours waiting for that squirrel or bird to come down. I can’t wait til we find a house with a yard for her to run around in on her own.
Last night we all went out to eat and left Squirrel and Splotchy alone. We very carefully put the baby gate up between the kitchen and living room. I made sure the bedroom door was shut so Squirrel had her room to herself. We really weren’t gone very long.
We came home to find the bedroom door open and Splotchy on the wrong side of the gate! How this dog that pretends to need help getting in the car sometimes jumped that gate is beyond me. I guess she couldn’t jump back into the kitchen or maybe she just didn’t want to. And how did my bedroom door end up open?
Squirrel was in her favorite hiding spot under the dresser. She yelled at me for a little while, then all was forgiven. One thing, since Splotchy came to join the family, Squirrel is much more vocal and affectionate. I love that!
Just can’t wait to see what the weekend brings!
Good Grief! Is there anything worse than a super active eleven year old on crutches? I told you he would milk this, bless his heart! I’m pretty sure his sister is just about at her breaking point! Now that she is officially a teenager, they seem like oil and water. She is handling it pretty well though. I’ve been a nursing assistant for years, so I guess I can handle this one. Though one too many “Grandma!” might soon be trying my nerves.
Really, he is doing pretty well. This is day 3 of crutches, so we’ll just have to wait an see.
This does bring us to the worst part of the situation. No baseball games for him or Splotchy for awhile.
Yes, the disappointment is pretty hard!
And Splotchy just doesn’t stay satisfied with the Xbox. Don’t know what we’d do for my grandson without it!
Hopefully everybody will stay calm throughout this ordeal.
This too shall pass.
Hope to see ya soon!
Isn’t this quite the sight to see when I get home from work? Seems like my family had spent the last few hours in the emergency room! My grandson, the nonstop whirlwind, was playing soccer with friends after school. I never knew you got tackled in soccer, but that’s how it happened.
Has anyone even heard of a growth plate? The doctor says it’s an area of growing tissue near the ends of the long bones in kids. It’s weaker than the surrounding bone. So they think it looks like a chipped bone and a possible fracture on the growth plate.
He will need an appointment with a pediactric orthopedist. Also spelled $$$$.
Now he is sporting a lovely walking boot and crutches. Believe me, he will milk this to death. Just gives grandma another reason to spoil him!
You just never know what surprises life will throw your way.
So always remember to stop along your way to smell the flowers and cherish each moment.
See ya soon!
We were just amazed at how good Splotchy was getting a bath!
She stood perfectly still the whole time. Even gave her daddy kisses!
We have some lavendar freshening spray for her, but that she really hates. One spray and she’s off to hide.
I didn’t think she would mind at all. Do other dogs have silly quirks like this? Seems to be the only thing that bothers her.
She’s such an easy going baby.
Splotchy and I are going to get some work done today. We are looking for the perfect breath freshening treat.
That is one of my favorite things about making homemade treats. We can change and tweak them until we come up with
I’m hoping to try a few different types. I would like to try selling them on Etsy.
Just something different to learn.
Nothing too wild and crazy, but really different for me!
Hopefully, we will find a winner!
Hope to see ya soon!
